Heresy Hellmites

80 Skaven clan rats have been painted up, only awaiting the dozens of fellow to make up the rest of the army...  To take a break I did a quick paint job on Heresy's Hellmites:



Nothing fancy, just a three color dry bush to get them up and off the table.  Lovely little sculpts, but I think I mismatched some of the backs to bodies.

Colors:

Body: Base GW Chardonite Granite, Wash Black, Highlight Graveyard earth
Beaks: Base Tausept Ochre, Wash Black, Highlight Graveyard Earth
Sack: Base VMC Hull Red, Wash GW Badab Black, Highlight Dark Flesh, Highlight Blood Red, Wash Ogryn Flesh
Base: Mushroom, Wash Raw Umber, Drybrush Mushroom, Drybrush Butter Pecan, Drybrush Vintage White.  Army Painter 4mm/6mm grass tufts.

15mm/6mm Woods (WIP)

Good bye to green felt templates!  I ended up with a scrap piece of 1/4" ply wood from some home remodeling.  And while I had an urge to do some buildings for 15mm, I haven't been playing a lot of 15mm gaming lately.  So, I decided that some woods would work for both 6mm (Dirtside 2 and Strike Legion) as well as 15mm sci fi or 15mm anceints gaming (ADG). I started by: Sketching out some rough circular shapes on the 1/4" ply Cutting them out with a jig saw.  I didn't follow the lines exactly, just tried to keep near them Power sanded down the edges to give them a bit of a gradual slope Glued 3"(For 15mm) or 2" (for 6mm) around the edges, with one or two in the middle for support.  I mostly left them open as these are for gaming, not for display.  I need to fit the figures in there!  This was done with liquid nails.  I put about a pea worth of liquid nails down, pushed the nail in and gave it a bit of a twirl.   Left me with the foll...

Gondor Warriors Test Recipe

Basecoating   1. Black primer via a rattlecan 2. Base coat "Abaddon Black" 3. Overbrush Vallejo 70.995 (German Camo Black) heavily 4. Not on these, but think another lighter over brush of a lighter grey would help.  Maybe a 1:1   70.995 with an ivory or other.   5. GW Lead Belcher on armor 6. Iraqi Dark Sand on the shield trees.  Less important the color here, just an ivory  7. Wash the whole model with "Nuln Oil" making sure not to pool Armor 1. Thick edge highlights of GW Iron Breaker Gloves 1. Base GW Gorthor Brown 2. Heavy wash Agrax Earthshade 3. Highlight back Gorthor Brown Belts/Scabbards 1. Base GW Steel Legion Drab 2. Ruined Terrain Work In Progress

 For Christmas this year I received a pretty decent sized set of various filament printed terrain.  In terms of presents, it was easy for family to acquire (Amazon is easier to navigate) and I didn't have to send them exactly what I was looking for. Unpainted Review The scale is generally 28mm or so.  Some are a little smaller, some a little bigger.  But nothing seems so crazy that I wouldn't put 32mm or 25mm on the table with them.  I sized them up, but forgot to take pictures so will try to grab some at the end, with MESBG LoTR, Age of Sigmar, 40k, Highland Miniatures and Beastarium Minis.  Nothing was so far out of scale that I wouldn't place them together. Almost no cleanup was required, just a few stray filament strands or print lines that didn't quite stick.  Probably the whole set took 10 minutes of cleaning.   Print lines are very noticeable on the rock ruins, but given that they are rocks, it didn't really bother me and I actually li...
